Ichthus 2008

This year at Ichthus I tried a couple of new ways to get photos of the event. The shots over the crowd were taken with my DSLR (Canon D60) attached to a monopod. I was starting to get the hang of it, but one of these days, hopefully, I will be able to afford a higher quality, low-light lens which would make the shots much better, and much easier to take. Regardless, I was able to get a few decent shots and I had fun with it!

I have been taking photos via my RC airplane for about three years, and this year I decided to bring my plane along to get some shots. It is a small, foam park-flyer that runs off a large electric battery, so it is light-weight and safe. I atttach a regular digital camera (Nikon Coolpix 7900) and strap the shutter down in sports spectator mode so that it takes non-stop while I fly the plane. Conditions this year were a bit too windy for my plane to handle but I was able to get some decent shots, regardless. Sunday morning brought foggy conditions which are my favorite for aerial photos.
